Without Oxygen is not only a film about athletic performance. It follows the body, decision-making, risk, hypoxia, preparation and the moments where ambition meets responsibility toward the team and one's own life.

The project combines authentic expedition footage, long-term documentary observation, medical and physiological perspectives and data collected during preparation and the expedition.

The outcome of the expedition is not known in advance. The film does not manufacture a victory story; it opens a space for real decisions in an environment where a mistake can have fatal consequences.

At 8,516 metres, Lhotse is one of the highest mountains on Earth. The planned expedition will take place in the Khumbu region of Nepal, where technical difficulty is combined with extreme altitude, hypoxia, wind, very low temperatures and limited time for decision-making.

The project includes responsibility for safe decisions, including the possibility of ending the attempt. The press kit therefore does not claim a record or a world first and does not present the summit as a guaranteed outcome.

During preparation and, depending on technical and safety conditions, also during the expedition, the project will monitor the body's response to hypoxia, physical load, recovery and sleep.

The specific measurement setup will be published only after the technical and production involvement is finally confirmed. No specific measured values are stated where they do not yet exist.

The data is intended to support the medical team, expert evaluation and the film as an authentic view of what happens to the body near its limits. This is not a medical promise or a completed scientific study.

Ondřej Novák is the author of the project, an extreme athlete, the main protagonist and producer of Without Oxygen.

In 2021, he descended Kilimanjaro 5,895 m by mountain bike. In 2022, he climbed Mera Peak 6,476 m and descended it by mountain bike as part of the documentary project Magoři na kole.

In Without Oxygen, he connects athletic performance, filmmaking, crisis management and project management. Extreme performance is not the only purpose of the story; it is a way to tell a story about preparation, risk and decision-making.
